Wednesday, June 26, 2002 - Troy Corporation is pleased to announce the achievement of ISO 14001 certification for our Newark, NJ manufacturing facility. ISO 14001 certification reflects our concern for the environment and our efforts to be compliant with the most stringent of government standards for “green” operations.
Troy received this certification only after the auditing of our operations by independent inspectors. The awarding of this certification is a distinction for Troy, as it recognizes our environmentally conscious manufacturing practices.
Ed Capasso, Environmental Director, and his department worked diligently to design and implement an environmental management system that allowed certification for Troy in record time. The application process began in February 2002 and certification was awarded at the end of May 2002.
Under the leadership of Mr. Capasso, his group drafted strict production policies to be followed, which led to the creation of specific procedures that all plant personnel must follow. These in turn led to the work instructions that outlined a clear, step-by-step diagram of what every production employee must do to meet the environmental guidelines. For instance, the procedures outline exactly how hazardous materials should be handled, sealed, labeled, and disposed of safely and responsibly.
ISO 14001 standards apply to the entire Newark manufacturing process, requiring that every phase of production is environmentally sound. This system of environmental management is in the process of being applied to other sites where Troy product is produced with future certification expected.
